Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were first seen together on ‘Koffee With Karan’ and this was their first interview after five years of marriage. As soon as the episode was unveiled at 12 o’clock, fans couldn’t stop expressing their love. Deepveer also released his wedding video for the first time and it left everyone speechless and emotional including Karan Johar. During an in-depth conversation on the show, both the actors talked about Deepika’s battle with depression.

When Ranveer Singh revealed how he dealt with the situation, the DP admitted that Ranveer Singh had created this ‘safe space’ for him and was very patient.

Ranveer Singh said, “When it first happened in 2014, I was shooting. She called and she said, ‘I’ve blacked out and collapsed. Can you come home?’ I disconnected the call and I was going straight to her house on my bike. When I saw her, I knew something was wrong. She is in front, she is looking at you but she is not there at all.”

Later, one day they were having breakfast together and she was crying continuously. Ranveer Singh was feeling helpless then. He continued, “One day at breakfast she was sitting next to me and crying. Lots of tears. I got up and went to her and I said, ‘What’s wrong baby? What can I do for you?’ The reason I remember it so clearly is because it was a moment when I felt completely helpless.”

Ranveer then called Deepika’s parents and sister from Bengaluru. Deepika Padukone added to this and told how Ranveer was helpful to her during this phase. “What she did at that point was create a safe space for me to open up,” the DP said. “Not once did she say, ‘It’s OK, forget it,’ or ‘Let’s go for a drive. Or anything like that.’ At the time, he didn’t understand it much, today he understands it better. But there he was. He showed great patience. That’s what says to me about the guy “it pretty much sums up who he is.”

What fans found adorable was that Ranveer kept kissing Deepika while Deepika talked about her tough times during depression. They call it ‘Green Flag’.
The actress says she is still taking medication and has to work every day to make sure she doesn’t end up on that stage again.
