Both of them did many films here but most of them were flops. Due to this the family had to face financial problems. The circumstances were such that 13 people of the family had to live in two rooms.
Seeing his family’s deteriorating condition, Rajamouli started acting at the age of 20 and worked as a screenwriter before turning to direction. Film editor Rajamouli K. Started his film career as an apprentice under Venkateswara Rao. On the advice of his father, he started working here, but gradually his inclination turned towards film direction. After this he helped his father in direction for 6 years.
Initially Rajamouli used to write scripts of films. But he always felt disappointed because other directors could not present the stories written by him properly on screen. This frustration led him to give up writing and directing films. His thinking was that the stories written by him could be presented well on screen.
Initially, Rajamouli directed some commercial and advertising films. He then entered the Telugu film industry in 2001. His directorial debut was Student No. 1, starring Jr. NTR in the lead role. Made on a budget of Rs 1.80 crore, this film earned Rs 12.09 crore.
Directed by Rajamouli, this film was Jr. NTR’s first superhit film.
Within two years, Rajamouli had started preparations for his first mythological film with his favorite hero, Malayalam star Mohanlal, but due to some reasons the film never became successful.
He then directed his third film Sai (2004) starring Nithiin and Genelia D’Souza. Made with a budget of Rs 8 crore, this film was the most expensive film of Rajamouli’s career and was not released in theaters for a year. The film won 4 Nandi Awards.

The 2006 film Vikramarkudu was a turning point in Rajamouli’s career. The film starring Ravi Teja was remade in Kannada, Tamil and Hindi (Rowdy Rathore). The 2009 film Magadheera gave Rajamouli recognition not only in the South Industry but in the entire country.
Made with a budget of Rs 35 crore, the film starring Kajal Aggarwal and Ram Charan collected Rs 150 crore at the box office. The film ran for 1,000 days in theaters and broke Chandramukhi’s record for the longest running film.
